This robot is looks like it is set to replace the fleet of mechanical bulls in bars around the country. If this guy was two inches taller the robot would have smacked him on the floor. Looks fun I’m next.

“The idea of this project was to create a fully-automated sentry gun, capable of picking out a human target and accurately tracking and shooting him or her in the heart. Really, the idea was to find a cool robotics project for the summer while I was working at an advertising agency, and I’d only ever seen sentry guns in movies (like Congo) and video games (Half-Life 1, Half-Life 2, Team Fortress Classic). I couldn’t find any record of anyone building one, even the military, although it seems likely I just didn’t look hard enough. It’s a pretty simple technology. One of my friends did mention the Phalanx anti-missile gun, which is of similar design, but uses radar for tracking instead of an optical method. The Phalanx has been around since the early 80′s. He was also quick to add that there are some pretty good reasons for not building an optical sentry gun, a big one being that it’s generally a good idea to shoot down any missile headed in your direction, but that same philosophy may not be the best when applied to humans.” Cool video I found on Youtube.

This unique robot is controlled by cockroach intelligence. The cockroach is placed on a small trackball which controls the movement of the robot. The idea is to create a pseudo-intelligent robot. The cockroach is flashed with ultra-bright leds. The leds provide feedback to the roach.

Created as a graduate project by Eric Newman. The DrawBot was created to emulate the emulate the movement of the mouse. The DrawBot is controlled via a HID USB interface, using a Microchips PIC 18F4550 microprocessor to control everything. By using the HID interface the DrawBot can be programed to draw premade patterns of different coordinates or it could simply be controlled using a joystick or mouse. The DrawBot consists of five joints controlled by Futaba S3305 servos. The Futuba servos give the arm the stability and movement it needs. Be sure to check out the video on the website.

Conceived by Max Dean and built by Raffaello D’Andrea, the creators of “The Table: Childhood,” another robotic art installation, the robot chair can fall apart spontaneously, and then drag itself across the floor and reassemble. This is a truly freaky video.

Most people who grew up in the 80′s or 90′s know that transformers ruled. This is probably the best real robot version that i have seen. Here is a short clip of a transforming robot in Japan. Video was found on youtube.com.

First, to Defense Review’s knowledge, the basic NRI AutoCopter is currently one of the most advanced/innovative unmanned mini-helicopters in the world, and one of the two best unmanned mini-helicopters for under $100,000 (the other is made by Rotomotion, LLC). What’s so innovative about it? Well, for starters, the AutoCopter is…
self-stabilized, using patented “intelligent” neural network-based flight control algorithms (fancy engineer-speak for “automated flight controls”) to allow anyone to fly the AutoCopter with little to no previous remote-control (RC) piloting experience. These automated flight controls make the AutoCopter the easiest mini-unmanned helicopter to to fly, and the hardest to crash. Basically, the AutoCopter’s neural networked-based automatic flight control system won’t allow the pilot to do anything catastrophic (a.k.a. stupid).
What they think of in Alabama. How would you like to see this flying down your street. I don’t know if I would pay 100k for it, but maybe the military will. I wonder how many hunters are drooling over this high-flying assassin. A hunter would never have to leave the campsite to shoot an elk.
more on the Weaponized AutoCopter….
