DIY Solar Garage Heater

diy solar garage heater

Using Free energy sounds good to me. This DIY solar heater by Hemmings Auto Blog, takes simple common household items and combines them to make something useful. I have the same problem in my workshop. In the winter it is just to cold without some sort of heater. The concept is simple create a box of wood with a Plexiglas top, add some metal to collect the heat, attach a inlet and outlet and align it to the sun. The results were a 15 degree differential between the inlet and the outlet.

Linux Media Center PC

I have always been fascinated by media center PCs. Now I’m not talking a heavy windows PC running Windows Media Center Edition. I want a lightweight simple system that can access my media from a large hardrive or a Network Attached Storage server. Ideally I want a DVR built in as well as a simple interface to access my mp3’s and DVD files. The media center must also interface with existing hardware, such as a DVD player. I was going to turn my old Xbox into a media center, but I just don’t want to mess around with all the Xbox limitations and hardware DRM. I am going to build a small Micro-Atx pc and run Linux Media Center on it. If anyone has done this or has any recommendations, let me know in the comments. I will keep you posted on the project, but for now here are some nice videos explaining Linux Media Center.
